AUSTRALIAN SURFING PRODIGY
Hughie Vaughan is widely regarded as one of Australia’s most promising future surfing talents.
At just 18, he has already made an undeniable impact on the country’s competitive surfing scene, fearlessly charging some of the world’s most dangerous breaks and earning international recognition in the process. His raw talent, relentless drive, and fearless approach in the water set him apart as an emerging force in the sport.
Crowned the 2023 Stab Magazine Junior of the Year, Hughie is the embodiment of homegrown talent. Growing up on the NSW Central Coast with North Shelly as his home break, he and his three older brothers have been surrounded by Australian surfing royalty since day one. He first picked up a surfboard at just two years old—and hasn’t slowed down since.
In 2024, Hughie claimed his first WSL Pro Junior victory, securing a coveted spot at the WSL World Junior Championships. He backed it up in 2025 with a second Pro Junior title and a breakthrough win at Stab High in Japan – an aerial-focused competition stacked with former world title contenders and current stars, taking home the $20k prize. With a rapid rise through the ranks, Hughie will no doubt be eyeing off qualifying for the WSL Championship Tour, proving it’s only a matter of time before he cements his place among the world’s best.
A proud Quiksilver team rider, Hughie also represents Creatures of Leisure and Ritual Vision, partnerships that highlight his strong presence both in and out of the water. His fearless style, authentic personality, and growing influence make him a standout brand ambassador and one of surfing’s most exciting young talents.
With limitless potential and a relentless drive, Hughie Vaughan is just getting started, and the surfing world is watching closely.
