One of the Raiders favourite sons will return home to Canberra to Coach the Raiders from 2014, after Ricky Stuart formally signed a new three year deal at Raiders HQ today.
Stuart spent the morning meeting the Raiders Coaching staff, administration staff and a group of players who had not yet departed for their off-season break.
Speaking to the media today Stuart said he is looking forward to the challenge of Coaching the Green Machine and said he’s excited about the future of the club.
“I’m looking forward to it and as I said to the players and staff this morning I’m excited and looking forward to the challenge,” Stuart said. “I think being home is exciting and being involved in the club where I had so many years and had so many mates and so much success is also exciting.
“Canberra and the Canberra Raiders has always been a big part of my grounding and it’s nice to be able to return.”
Incoming Raiders Chairman Dr Allan Hawke said the official deal to sign Stuart for a three year contract had been finalised today and the Raiders Board of Directors would meet with the incoming Coach to discuss what else he requires to make the club a success.
“We’ve come to an official agreement today in regards to Ricky’s contract and it will be a three year deal with a possible extension depending on performance,” Dr Hawke said. “Ricky will come to the Board when he’s ready to let us know what else he need in terms of support in order to do the job and I’m sure the board will give him the full support in doing that.”
