Professional Snowboarder, Australia’s most successful Winter Olympian, Sport Australia Hall of Fame Inductee.
A true icon of winter sports, Torah Bright is celebrated as Australia’s most successful Winter Olympian.
Torah grew up in a snow-loving family and began skiing at age two before discovering her true calling, snowboarding, at age eleven under the guidance of her brother and coach, Ben Bright.
By fourteen, Torah had turned professional. She quickly made her mark on the global circuit with multiple victories, including two X Games golds, three US Open titles, two Global Open Championships, and several World Superpipe Championship crowns.
Her crowning achievement came at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, where she carried the Australian flag at the Opening Ceremony and delivered a breathtaking performance, including a groundbreaking “switch backside 720”, to win gold in women’s halfpipe. At the 2014 Sochi Olympics, she made history as the first snowboarder ever, male or female, to qualify in three disciplines (slopestyle, halfpipe, and snowboard cross), and secured silver in halfpipe.
Beyond her Olympic feats, Torah has represented excellence across multiple platforms, earning accolades such as TTR World Champion and ESPY’s Best Female Action Sports Athlete.
In recognition of her extraordinary career and impact, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) and in 2025 was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
Since retiring from competitive snowboarding in 2020, Torah has continued to inspire through creative projects, environmental advocacy, and mentorship.
